Background to ERTTP
The Ethiopian Rural Travel and Transport Programme (ERTTP) is formulated based on the Rural Travel and Transport Programme initiated by the Sub-Saharan Africa Transport Programme under the aegis of the World Bank and supported by bilateral and multilateral donors. The implementation of the ERTTP would closely be co-ordinated and monitored by respective Woreda Council, Regions and Federal Government. The manuals, though bound in separate volumes, must be viewed as a coherent whole addressing institutional, resource mobilization, finance, logistics, capacity building, technical and sociological aspects of the programme.
To this end the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) initiated the preparation of guidelines consisting of six manuals prepared in six Volumes, viz:
